The variety of work undertaken by Ecology UK Ltd includes commissions for ecological survey work, environmental assessments, landscape management and habitat creation schemes for projects including wind farms developments, road improvements, quarry proposals and waste disposal sites, port related development and house building.

In particular the company has developed an extensive experience in dealing with sensitive schemes with the potential to impact upon sites protected by International and National nature conservation designations and consequently protected species. In connection with such schemes the company has provided evidence at a number of Public Inquiries.

Ecological surveys carried out by Ecology UK Ltd have looked at a range of taxonomic groups including plants (higher and lower), birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates. The company has extensive experience in extended phase 1 habitat survey techniques that form the foundation for all ecological baseline assessments. Moreover, the company has conducted very detailed ecological studies including extended ornithological surveys for wind farms, vegetation monitoring and population studies. The business has also been involved in preparation of mitigation proposals for a range of projects and has supervised the practical implementation of the work proposed.

The work of the business is supported by sophisticated databases including RECORDER 2000, VESPAN and bespoke Microsoft Access Databases along with mapping software including DMAP, MapInfo and ArcView GIS.
